Finishing

Author: Crochetly · Last updated: May 16, 2026

Finishing is the final step that secures your project and gets it ready to use.

Finishing usually means fastening off, cutting the yarn and securing the tail, and weaving in ends to hide yarn tails inside the stitches.

  • Be specific. Use action-oriented verbs like “Weave in ends” or “Block to dimensions.”
  • Include a blocking recommendation if the project will benefit from it.

Blocking shapes and sets your finished piece. You wet or steam the fabric, pin it to the right dimensions, and let it dry. This evens out stitches and gives a polished look.
